“I want to consult something to you. Do you know about this petition? Is this good idea or will it harm Onew more than good? Please answer.”
This is a petition towards SM entertainment in showing fans support for Onew. It’s not scary as it sounds - other idol fans have done it before and Onew fans organized it because they feel it’s necessary. There was no harm done to the artist in the past examples so rest assured. This is not an angry protest. It’s simply a way of expressing fans opinions.
I assume the reason for involving international fans into this petition is because you are likely to have bigger influence over SM than Korean fans, for the reason being that the company has high interest in the international market.
I support it mostly to raise the point that they had better allow Onew to pursue solo activities. He has expressed interest in musicals himself so I am keen to support it over other activities.

You don’t have to agree with all four categories to participate. If you have something that you want to tell SM regarding Onew, fill out the form and follow the instructions are on the link. Feel free to ask questions (but it’s better to consult them directly because I’m not the organizer).

From HIGHCUT May(?) issue:
“If there are male celebrities that make men question ‘Why do girls love such average face?’, it’s likely they have a dubu face. Onew is a representative dubu face who made his debut as SHINee in 2008 and surpassed his teammates, ‘standard flower boys’ Taemin and Minho, in popularity - obtaining placement as fandom’s no.1.”
Other ‘dubu face’ celebrities mentioned in the article are Joongki, Yoochun etc. It also says ‘dubu face’ is trending as ideals.
I hope they realize Onew is not a representative but in fact, was the first celebrity to have been compared as dubu (They wrote as if he is one of many). I always thought dubu was somewhat Onew-specific. Yoochun is considered ‘milky’ not dubu-like but whatever.
“Onew has the same problem as Minho. The man’s serious and could have the potential to be a leader like G Dragon (The members of Big Bang are scared of him when they need to get down to business, but they respect him and he gets shit done when it needs to be.), but of course, SM doesn’t want ambition. They want docility and they don’t want Onew to be that intelligent. “Hi I read this comment from an article somewhere…what do you think about it?
“Shinee almost never appears on Yoo JaeSuk shows, except for Onew in Happy Together ONCE! kinda butthurt about that sometimes. Is it that they’re not popular enough to be granted a guesting?”
Minho was on Running Man so that makes it twice. Yoo Jaesuk is a very popular mc among idol fans because he is the genius at pulling the best out of idols so shawols always have been anticipating to see Yoo Jaesuk and SHINee together in one show. It’s is somewhat strange that SHINee never had chance to be on his show as a group when they’ve been in the industry for 4 years.
More importantly SHINee have never been on a top ranking show and it is odd, perhaps their manager has a share of blame in this matter because he doesn’t seem to be doing his job sometimes. There were few occasions of radio djs complaining about SHINee being difficult to book for appearance, for the reason of their manager not picking up phone calls. I don’t know about tv guesting though.
I know some production companies take extra efforts to grab variety opportunities for their artists, which isn’t the case for sm. For example Dal Sherbet was on Happy Together so many times over a short period of time that there was a backlash from the public, criticizing the show for being too obvious on promoting a nobody, rookie group. T-ara made their variety debut on Radio Star, another popular show, and this was pursued by their company’s president. On the show, they introduce T-ara as ‘girl group from a powerful company that anyone can see’ and makes sarcasms on the president for pushing a rookie into their show.
My observation is that sm takes a very laid back standpoint when it comes to tv guesting and only grabs offers when it comes to them instead of actively seeking out. sm artists don’t desperately require the promotions most lesser companies need, because having the label of sm ent automatically grunts them fame. But of course I’m just surmising.
One truth of matter is, there is no reason for broadcasting networks to favor idols as guests on their shows, unless they’re big as SNSD or Bigbang. Idols for the most part, do not guarantee high ratings.
Whatever the reason is, I guess we’ll have to wait for SHINee’s next comeback and hopefully they will be in Korea longer than Sherlock cycle.

B1A4 Sandeul recommends Onew as ethics teacher: “No.1 in manners!! Sunbaenim!!”
Onew and Sandeul were bowing to each other here

From Defconn’s twitter:
“I thought about it before sleep. With an instant flashing of light, spacetime opened up. There was a light in the far distance, I was sucked towards it at a great speed. That was how Onew’s ttakbam felt like”
From the blog of Japanese mc who hosted USTREAM broadcast 11/05/12 (link)
“Onew was the best~! Key-kun was funny too (laugh). Atmosphere was good and it was fun! They were all really good young men and I received strength! It was a exciting and enjoyable live recording!”
No wonder mc kept mentioning Onew. It’s a must watch for Onew fans :)

Onew & Hyungdoni : Onew went to help him up saying “Uri (=our) Hyungdoni hyung” quite affectionately. Onew then played around with the ball as if he’s lifting a dumbbell - Hyungdon saw it, gave him a pat and said “That’s funny, uri Onew”. Anyone who is responsive to Onew’s jokes, I like! Hyungdon was with SHINee in Flowerboy Generation and Kpop Road show in Russia.
